History
Aragh was seventeen when Gilneas was struck by its civil war. He was a farmer then, tending a patch of land just outside of Keel Harbor that had been in his family for as long as anyone could remember. At that point he was the last Thackeray left to tend the farm. His parents and older sister had succumbed to a fever when he was five and the other half of the family in Pyrewood Village was eventually cut off by the construction of the Gilnean wall. Due to this, Aragh was raised by his maternal grandmother, Alpenny Blackwood, who came to live on the Thackeray farm.
At the age of ten, he fell asleep in a field and woke up surrounded by wild flowers. Alpenny – who was from a long line of harvest-witches but the talent hadn’t passed to her daughter – was all too delighted to begin teaching her grandson the family arts. He used his new skills to learn how to help their crops grow and keep animals away from them. Sometimes he also shared the gift with their neighbors, helping their crops as well to give Keel Harbor a strong farming reputation.
Then the civil war and the curse changed everything.
While the war took the fruits of his labors, it was the worgen who briefly took his life from him years later. Arah was visiting his grandmother’s grave in the Blackwald (where she had requested to be buried as her family was from there) when he was attacked. Despite his lack of skill at healing, his last memories after the attack are of trying to heal himself and failing. His next memory was coming back to himself after being captured and returned his mind by Darius Crowley’s worgen. One of the night elf druids who helped them noticed his abilites after he coaxed out a flower just to make sure he still could but Aragh refused their offer to teach him then. All he wanted was to go back to his life.
After they fled once the Forsaken invaded, he traveled to Stormwind from Teldrassil and found work on Stonefield Farm in Elwynn Forest, meeting the love of his life not long after. A year later, he and Orlena Thorne were married, had their own small patch of land gifted to them by her father, and a little girl that was named Penny after his grandmother.
Not long after their son Renne was born, Aragh made the decision to leave his family because of the Legion invasion. He finally sought out how to use the gifts he’d been given and how to learn to do more than just tend to a field of plants. Under the Cenarion Circle, he was trained by Caren Bloodwolf first to cover his basics and then Monaes Stagfire taught him how to be a Guardian Druid.
After fighting the Legion, he returned home to his family and has had little reason to step outside of Elwynn Forest since.
