History
Born when the Winterhoof tribe still occupied the Stonetalon Mountains, Alisa’s first years were happy. Her parents were warm and loving and she adored her older half-sister, always following Caren around from the time she could talk. Because of what happened to drive the Bloodwolf Tribe to be absorbed into the Winterhoof, her mother attempted to shelter Alisa from the world for as long as possible.
When her father died at the hands of a band of centaur who had pushed into the edge of Stonetalon, Alisa’s world shattered. For her first nine years Thothan Bloodwolf was everything to his daughters and when he was gone, everything changed. Her mother became even more protective of her and her beloved sister, struggling with her own anger at his death, began pulling away from her. In later years, Alisa would discover that her mother had helped push Caren further away as well with how she had acted towards her mate’s eldest child.
Despite her mother’s urging of her to be an herbalist or alchemist, Alisa entered training as a warrior after being told that she too needed an outlet for the rage in her heart. Nothing else released the heavy drag on her heart that the anger was and tempering her own rage eventually allowed her to learn to live with it. However, when it was still untamed, she and Caren had an argument about what the best way to honor their father was. An argument that got so out of control that her sister’s control slipped…and suddenly Alisa was facing the fury of a out-of-control bear instead of her beloved sister. Despite the fact that Caren regained control and never hurt her, the experience shook Alisa’s older sister enough that she gave up her position as the third druid in the tribe and left.
With her sister gone, Alisa threw herself into her training. She passed her Rites and became a Brave of the tribe, the first and last line of defense of her people. For many years after that, the world was calm in Stonetalon beyond the ocassional centaur raid. Alisa spent most of the next three decades between three things: service as a tribe Brave, mourning the loss of her sister, and fending off her mother’s unwanted advice on how to live her life. Eventually, however, she did do one thing her mother approved of and allowed another member of the tribe – Ahanu Winterhoof – to court and eventually mate her in ADP 14. Eight years later, she was carrying their child when the tribes of Shu’halo were called to retake Mulgore and as such was not able to participate.
Ahanu Winterhoof died during taking of Mulgore, doomed to never see his child be born. Despite her state of mourning for her mate, Alisa made use of her years of coming to terms with her father’s death to help deal with the aftermath of her mate’s. She did mourn him but also said she had little time to do so, as within two months of retaking Mulgore their child was one of the first shu’halo to be born on the green plains in hundreds of years since they had been driven from it. Thothan Winterhoof – a name agreed upon by herself and her mate to honor her father’s spirit – was then a few months old when his aunt reappeared as Thunder Bluff’s construction was well underway, instantly capturing her heart.
The small family existed together in Bloodhoof Village for several years, Caren giving up her wandering to support her sister and nephew. However, tensions between her once mate’s eldest and Nomri Winterhoof had not gotten better with the passage of time. Their verbal sparring became more and more frequent – most often begun by Nomri – until the day that Caren turned on the elder tauren with rage in her eyes. When Alisa saw her sister’s eyes shift to the flat fury of the bear – eyes that still lurked in her own nightmares – she knew there would never be peace between them. Shoving Thothan into her mother’s arms, Alisa bullied her sister bodily out of the hut in a bid to calm her before the still apparently untamed rage was unleashed. When Caren said she would not stay where she was not wanted, Alisa feared that she was going to lose her sister a second time. However, she was quickly disabused of that notion when Caren stated that she would not allow Nomri’s bile to keep her from her nephew or her sister again.
Since this, Alisa has mostly served as a member of the Bloodhoof Village Guard. The only times she has not been stationed in Mulgore were during later massive war efforts, including fighting in Northrend, Pandaria, Draenor, the Broken Isles, and the Battle for Lordaeron. During the last she was briefly captured after being separated from others during the fighting, only to be broken out of her cell by her sister’s companion Necronim. After that, she removed herself from all war efforts, citing a need to train the next generation as well as be present for her son.
It was after her return to her service as a Guard that she discovered that her young son had been sneaking around Thunder Bluff for years with another young tauren by the name of Ganilahi Wisemoon. Both had a penchant for stealth, finding it amusing to do whatever they wanted until the nose of their elders. Apparently during these wandering escapades, Thothan was found most often in the Pools of Vision as he apparently had grown a fascination with the mages and priests stationed there. When she approached Caren about this fascination for the arcane arts and not the shamanistic or druidic typical to their people, her sister suggested they allow her companion, Hresden Duskstrider, to speak with him. It was after this conversation that Alisa learned that her son had apparently inherited a similar well of power to her sister, only his was tilted more towards the arcane in nature according to Hresden. After a meager attempt to persuade her son towards at least shamanistic pursuits, Alisa asked Hresden if he would teach her son to the best of his ability.
